Keeping Faith
Taos New Mexico is changing rapidly, land once valued by how many head of cattle it could support is now often valued by how many new houses it will accommodate and local traditions are at risk of being forgotten. I wanted to look carefully at the subtle but universal struggle of people trying to reconcile the need for roots, history and community with the pressures of economic and societal change.
Keeping Faith is an ongoing project. I want my work to celebrate people, their work, their land, their families and their beliefs. Making these photographs continues to connect me to my community in so many meaningful ways, and I'd like to thank all the people who have invited me into their homes, farms, kitchens, funerals and churches for their generosity and kindness.
